Christmas is a season to rejoice and bless others. This can be a giving others a smile, parking further away so someone else can park closer, or letting someone go ahead in line. Or gift a child with a book to understand or celebrate the real reason for Christmas. It's also a time to pray for people who have had a hard year and gift them with something to encourage them in the coming year. Hopefully, we will be as eager as the shepherd's when Christ was born to share the joy and amazing news!
Joy is part of the fruit of the Holy Spirit, and like growing fruit, it should be nurtured (Galatians 5:22-23). We are reminded that God can fill us with joy and peace, in Romans 15:13. That verse is connected to hope because looking forward to unexpected blessings from God with the faith that he will do what he promises. James 1:2 reminds us to consider it joy when you struggle with hardships because it will produce endurance and maturity. Living this out can be difficult.
That's why this year I have a Christmas Joy Shop with special book selections from friends as well as my own books to consider as gifts of joy. These books cover various aspects and readers:

Even before and during writing the book they had their own struggles with Pam in a coma and Karen's recent recovery from pneumonia, as well as many other times they chose joy in spite of circumstances.
