How do we add joy to life?
Joy comes from God and it’s a gift of the Holy Spirit. So first we pray for joy.
Then, we choose to rejoice with grateful hearts. Express gratitude to God and others.
Next we observe what’s around us that brings joy from loved ones and nature to blessings God sends. We trust God and take time to laugh.
Then, and it’s harder, we choose joy in all circumstances. I lost my husband but rejoiced in the memories and all the joy he gave me. Pam spent time in a comma as we started writing a book on joy and rejoiced in life when she came out of it even as she had to take time to recover. We’ve had lots of ups and downs in life but choose to trust God will use it all for good and we have seen that work out. Even in the midst of storms and I’ve experienced lightning, cat 4 hurricanes, earthquakes, fires, and more in my homes but God has surrounded me with love and repairs have been done. IT strengthened our children too. We grieve but trust God in those time. We face the challenges of pain but lean on God and rejoice in HIs promises.
Most of all, we increase our joy when we bring joy to others. Sprinkling joy into someone’s life with smiles, encouragement, and thoughtful actions bless us too in countless ways. Try it!
Add Joy for Children
Encourage a child and ask daily about the best of the day and then thank God for those moments.
Read and post scriptures on joy.
Discuss how failures and overcoming problems made us better people and helped build compassion.
Express and show your acceptance for who God made them to be, affection, assurance of your love, affirmation of purpose, and challenge them to adventure and creative thinking. Let life be a daily discovery of God’s world.
